Ratted out by bro, 9

A 19-year-old Brooklyn woman has been busted in the gruesome death of the city’s tiniest murder victim — her brother’s pet hamster, Sweetie.

Monique Davis allegedly squeezed the little rodent in a fit of anger last June and then killed it by throwing it hard to the floor twice in her family’s Bushwick home.

Sweetie survived the initial toss to the floor, and though badly hurt, tried to crawl away, sources said yesterday. That’s when Davis allegedly picked it up and slammed it down again, delivering the killing blow.

She then allegedly brought it outside of their home on Putnam Avenue and tossed it on the ground near where her 9-year-old brother, Brandon, was sitting with their father on the family stoop, law-enforcement sources said.

Little Brandon called the ASPCA’s help line on his own on the day of the killing, and an investigation began, a source said. Officials said Monique Davis has been avoiding officers from the organization since then, and was only picked up yesterday.

“It’s brutal,” said ASPCA Assistant Director Joe Pentangelo. “People want to hurt other people, and they’ll take anything precious away to hurt them. This was a cherished family pet that was killed.”

A necropsy was performed on Sweetie, who weighed just 4 ounces, at the ASPCA’s Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital.

The examination found that Sweetie had suffered blunt force trauma, liver damage and associated hemorrhage.

Davis — who is one of 12 children — has been charged with several counts including felony and misdemeanor animal cruelty and endangering the welfare of a child.

Her mother, Theresa Smith, told The Post yesterday that Davis killed Sweetie to get back at her 12-year-old brother, Aaron, who had earlier killed another family hamster, Princess.

Smith is angry that authorities arrested her daughter, who has a 2-month-old child.

“I’m very upset,” she said. ” She’s a new mother, I’m taking care of her baby.”
