‘Harry Potter’ star Emma Watson named new face of Lancome

PARIS — British actress Emma Watson, one of the stars of the “Harry Potter” franchise, is the new face of French cosmetics giant Lancome, her website announced Monday.

“Thanks to her charm, romanticism and her incredible modernity, Emma Watson has become the icon of her generation,” said a statement from Lancome International president Youcef Nabi.

“We are delighted by this new collaboration with Emma, who brings a fresh spirit to Lancome.”

Actresses including Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet and Anne Hathaway have previously starred in campaigns for Lancome.

Watson, 20, announced last week that she was taking time off from pursuing a degree at Brown University in Providence, R.I., to focus on acting and other projects.

Earlier in March, Women’s Wear Daily reported that she was working with Italian designer Alberta Ferretti on an eco-friendly collection called “Pure Threads.”
