Wait list for this ugly, $795 Prada

New Yorkers are paying cash for clunkers.

The hottest new shoe off the Milan Fashion Week runway this spring is the $795 Prada “Creeper” — an unnatural-looking hybrid of a wingtip oxford, an espadrille and a sneaker.

A small shipment of the latest shoe fetish from the Italian luxury brand immediately sold out at all Manhattan Prada boutiques last month — and there’s already a long wait list for the next shipment of clownish shoes, scheduled to arrive in town Tuesday.

The chunky Frankenshoe from the Spring 2011 collection — modeled by both men and women in Milan — is the must-have purchase for fashion-forward New Yorkers this season.

“It doesn’t matter that they’re ugly and not sexy because they’re Prada,” explained Lauren Sherman, a fashion writer for Fashionista.com, of the shoe’s odd appeal. “Prada is known for its subversive sexiness. It’s geek chic. People are sick of wearing hooker heels.”
