Couple sues ‘beat’ cops

A Harlem woman and her boyfriend are suing the NYPD for $24 million, claiming that officers beat her with billy clubs, broke her nose and arrested the pair after she tried to film cops busting a man.

Hope Gonzalez, 30, says she and her boyfriend, Pedro Gomez, 37, were shopping Oct. 14, 2009, when they saw a young man being “abused” by several police officers on Riverside Drive at West 158th Street.

Gonzalez said she started taking cellphone photos to document the situation.

The officers allegedly hit Gonzalez and broke her nose.

“They said that I was resisting arrest and that I spit into a cop’s face,” Gonzalez told The Post. “I’ve never had problems with police, ever in my life.”

Charges against both were dropped.

City Law Department spokeswoman Kate Ahlers said, “We are in the process of investigating the matter.”
