Lindsay Lohan returns to Los Angeles as plea deal decision looms

LOS ANGELES — Lindsay Lohan is returning to Los Angeles as the deadline approaches for her decision on the plea deal offered her in the case of her alleged necklace theft, Radar Online reported Monday.

Lohan was spotted out and about in New York last week for a reunion with her family but the Lohan gathering came to an end Monday as she was due to return to the Golden State.

Sources close to the troubled actress told the celebrity website that her return to the West Coast is a sign she is strongly considering accepting the plea after she was charged with felony grand theft for allegedly walking out of a jewelry boutique without paying for a $2,500 gold necklace on January 22.

The plea deal includes a 90-day jail sentence, which Lohan initially balked at because she was convinced she could prove her innocence at trial.

However, the 24-year-old actress — currently on probation for a 2007 DUI offense — is reported to now be considering the deal.

“It’s a fluid situation,” a source close to Lohan told the website. “Lindsay appears to now grasp the severity of the situation if she doesn’t take the plea deal.”

If Lohan decides to pass on the deal, the preliminary hearing for her trial will be held April 22.

“This case does involve jail time, period,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Douglas Schwartz told Lohan in February. “If you plead in front of me, you are going to jail, period.”
