Today

Hocus pocus: Like a day trip to Disneyland, “Disney Live! Mickey’s Magic Show” will feature Minnie, Donald, Goofy and other favorite characters pulling off some pretty neat tricks (with the help of professional illusionists). Through tomorrow, 11 a.m., 2 and 6:30 p.m.; $21 to $141. Theater at Madison Square Garden, Seventh Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets; 800-745-3000.

Peek into the past: Wrap up your St. Pat’s week by getting a glimpse into the rarely seen fourth-floor Irish servants’ quarters at Merchant’s House Museum. Usually not open to the public, the maids’ rooms are perfectly preserved. Noon to 5 p.m.; $10 for adults, free for kids under 12. 29 E. Fourth St., between Lafayette Street and Bowery; 212-777-1089.

Horse play: The tale is timeless — a boy and his horse — but the staging of “War Horse” is like nothing you’ve seen before (the life-size horse “puppets” are spectacular). Today at 2 and 8 p.m., tomorrow at 3 p.m.; $75 to $125. Vivian Beaumont Theatre, 150 W. 65th St., near Broadway; 212-239-6200.

Tomorrow

Ode to joy: Though he was known for being something of a grump, Beethoven’s music is a mood-lifter (OK, some is sorta melancholy). Introduce kids to the composer’s life and work at the concert “Scowling Genius: Ludwig van Beethoven.” 3 p.m.; $18; 92nd Street Y, Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street; 212-415-5500.

Slime time: Little known fact: New York State is the salamander capital of the world. Head to Prospect Park for a Salamander Search led by the Urban Park Rangers and see how many of the amphibious creatures you can find creeping out of their winter dens. 11 a.m.; free. Picnic House, West Drive and Third Street; 718-421-2021
