‘Men’ nears deal

Infamously cantankerous “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner is finally nearing a deal to return to helm the hit cable series — which would end the shutdown that has left the show’s future in doubt, according to reports.

The 45-year-old writer and producer has reportedly been in fierce arguments with Lionsgate, the studio that owns the “Mad Men” series, and cable channel AMC, which is owned by Cablevision, over his compensation.

The series’ usual summer launch date was indefinitely postponed and cast members, like the buxom Christina Hendricks, have lined up other temporary gigs while the contract dispute was being worked out.

“Mad Men” won three consecutive Best Drama awards at the Emmys before losing last year to newcomer “Boardwalk Empire.”
