American Apparel CEO again sued for sexual assault

LOS ANGELES — The chief executive officer of American Apparel is being sued by a second former employee for sexual assault, local media reported.

Dov Charney, according to a complaint filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday, was accused by Kimbra Lo for forcing her to perform sexual acts during a meeting at his home in December 2010, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday. She said he asked her to his house to discuss a modeling and photography job.

Lo’s accusation is the second sexual harassment claim filed this month and one of many lodged against Charney in recent years. None has gone to trial and the company’s board of directors has publicly said it supports Charney.

In the suit filed earlier this month, another former employee, Irene Morales, sued Charney in New York City. She claims he attempted to force her to have oral sex with him in his apartment in New York in 2008. Morales also alleges she was harassed by him for months in emails and text messages.

The company fired back at Morales in court papers accusing her of having made “extortion-like threats to expose the company to a threatened avalanche of litigation and negative publicity,” according to the Los Angeles Times. The company has asked the court to send her case to confidential arbitration.

Charney declined to comment on the suit filed by Lo in L.A. County Superior Court on Wednesday.
