Amanda Knox files lawsuit over devastating US TV movie

PERUGIA, Italy — Convicted killer Amanda Knox filed a lawsuit in an Italian court Thursday to stop the distribution of a US TV movie that she said “exploited” her life story, ANSA reported.

Her lawyers argued “Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy” caused her very serious, irreversible damage and should be immediately banned on the internet.

”I’m devastated by this invasion into my life and the way I’m being exploited,” said Knox, 23, who is portrayed by American actress Hayden Panettiere in the movie that aired on Lifetime Television in the US last month.

Knox is currently appealing a 26-year sentence for killing British student Meredith Kercher in Nov. 2007. Her then-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito — who was given a 25-year jail term — has previously said the TV movie was inaccurate and contained “implausible scenes.”

”I consider it the pinnacle of the repeated violations by the media against my person, my personality and my (life) story,” Knox said Thursday.

The next hearing on the distribution of the film was set for July 4.

Knox is eagerly awaiting DNA evidence that she claims will help exonerate her at a separate hearing in May.

Ivory Coast drifter Rudy Guede was also convicted of Kercher’s murder and is currently serving a 16-year sentence after having his time cut on appeal.
