Baseball roundup: Moore edges sloppy Salesian

Moore Catholic is struggling at the plate, but it matters little when Anthony Lobello pitches the way he did Saturday afternoon.

The junior left-hander allowed three hits in five shutout innings and Matt Kostalos closed the door with a two-inning save to lead the Mavericks to a 3-1 win against Salesian at the Richmond County Youth Complex in Travis.

Lobello struck out three and walked two to earn the win, while Kostalos had five strikeouts and two walks, allowing an unearned runs in two innings of relief.

Moore Catholic (1-1), ranked No. 6 in the CHSAA by The Post, scored a pair of runs in the second inning, capitalizing on two of Salesian’s three errors. The Mavericks tacked on an insurance run in the fifth on Joe Todaro’s RBI-single.

Salesian, which fell to 1-1, scored an unearned run in the sixth inning.

St. Raymond 5, Mount St. Michael 2: Manny Rivera, Eric Hernandez and Jeffrey Ramos had two hits apiece and James Santiago threw 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to get the win for St. Raymond (2-0), No. 5 in the CHSAA by The Post, Saturday afternoon at Mount. The Mountaineers are 1-1.
