Paris is owing, according to a new lawsuit.
Pop tart Paris Hilton won’t give back $60,000 in borrowed bling — part of a jewelry stash swiped from her unlocked Los Angeles mansion two years ago, but safely returned to her by cops in 2009, the suit charges.
It’s been more than a year since the LAPD busted the celebrity burglary ring and returned to Hilton all of the $2.8 million in stolen jewelry from the mansion heist, according to papers filed in Manhattan today.
But she has yet to give back to the Damiani jewelry company some $60,000 in borrowed bling that was part of the recovered stash, the jeweler’s insurers claim.
Hilton “failed to return the jewelry or return any telephone calls or email messages,” the German-based Allianz Global insurance company says in the suit.
It was Hilton’s fault in the first place that her place was robbed, the company notes in its papers — because she was in the habit of leaving her front door unlocked. The jewelers had lent her the designer sparklers on the contingency that she keep them locked in a safe while not showing it off at events, papers say.
“We’re looking forward to proving our case,” said Cesar de Castro, lawyer for Allianz.
A spokesperson for Paris Hilton said: “We only just received the complaint but it is clear that it is not based on fact. Among other things nobody from the Hilton team ever told the insurance company that the Damiani items that were stolen were returned. We are not aware of any of the Damiani items being recovered by the police, only costume jewelry was recovered.”
