She got schooled.
American Federation of Teachers head Randi Weingarten admitted last night a recent speech she gave plagiarized a NY 1 series on problems in the city school system’s $80 million computer system.
Weingarten, said she didn’t write the speech, but understood “the buck stops here.”
“The speechwriter feels terrible, and I apologize,” she said.
The speech quoted information from NY 1’s series on the much-touted but flawed computer system “ARIS,” and noting that teachers had devised a better way for parents and educators alike to access student info.
“It’s a good example where teachers were incredibly innovative, and I don’t want that to get lost” in the plagiarism issue, Weingarten said.
A spokeswoman for NY 1 said, “We accept her apology.”
