Police recover $1.8M Stradivarius violin stolen in 2010

A $1.8 million Stradivarius violin stolen in 2010 has been found by cops — which is music to the ears of its virtuoso owner.

The 1696 “Strad” — one of just 650 made — was snatched by a gang as classical musician Min-Jin Kym, 35, bought coffee.

The instrument — which had “very minor damage” — was recovered from a property in the Midlands after a tip-off – complete with its $94,000 Peccatte bow.

Delighted Korean-born virtuoso Min-Jin, who has played with the London Symphony Orchestra, said: “I still can’t believe it. The loss of the instrument, and the acute responsibility I felt, was at the back of my mind at every moment of the day. I’m still feeling the butterflies in my stomach and am on cloud nine.”

John Maughan, 42, stole the violin at London’s Euston train station with two teen accomplices.
