Nigella Lawson was granted a “quickie” divorce from Charles Saatchi today — just six weeks after he admitted assaulting her in public.
Neither the TV chef nor her millionaire art collector husband were at the High Court in London for a brief hearing this morning.
District Judge Anne Aitken granted the couple a decree nisi — the first legal step to ending their ten-year marriage — in a hearing lasting less than a minute.
The final divorce papers are expected to be rubber-stamped in early September.
Nigella, 53, moved out of the home she shared with Saatchi, 70, last month after shocking photos emerged of the former advertising supremo grabbing his teary wife by the throat outside a restaurant in Mayfair.
