Christina Aguilera finalizes divorce from husband Jordan Bratman

LOS ANGELES — Christina Aguilera finalized her divorce from her music executive husband, Jordan Bratman, Friday in Los Angeles — closing the chapter on her five year marriage, E! News reported.

Bratman began dating Aguilera in 2002 and the two were married in an elaborate ceremony at a Napa Valley estate in November 2005. They have one child together, Max, who is now three.

The pair announced their separation in October but continued living together until Bratman, 33, found a place of his own in January.

“Things were so unhealthy and unhappy for both Jordan and me, I knew I had to end it,” Aguilera, 30, told People magazine about the split in a December interview.

Though the Grammy Award winner sang “Ain’t no other man” in her hit single, weeks after announcing the collapse of her marriage last fall, she was spotted out and about with a new love, Matt Rutler, 25, who worked as an assistant on her film “Burlesque.”

Aguilera tried to maintain a brave public face and friends said the new relationship was “really good for her,” but she showed signs of strain when she embarrassingly flubbed her way through the national anthem at the Super Bowl in February, mixing up the lyrics.

Then just weeks later, Rutler was arrested in Los Angeles for allegedly driving under the influence and Aguilera, his passenger in the car at the time, was taken into custody for being too drunk to care for herself. She was not formally charged in the incident though.

“There have been obvious setbacks,” she told Us Weekly in April about the scandal, adding, “I can laugh about my own hiccups and my own experiences in life because I’m getting through it.”

At the end of April, Aguilera will serve as a mentor on the upcoming NBC singing competition “The Voice,” joining rapper Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and country singer Blake Shelton.

“I’m actually revealing a lot about myself during this show — a side of myself that I think a lot of people have never seen before…I just wanted to approach this show very openly,” she added in her comments to the celebrity magazine.
