Aussie actress Isla Fisher in talks to join ‘The Great Gatsby’ remake

SYDNEY — Australian actress Isla Fisher is in talks to join the cast of Baz Luhrmann’s 3D adaptation of “The Great Gatsby,” the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.

Fisher, 35, would play Myrtle in the film adaptation of the classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Leonardo DiCaprio was cast in the lead role of Jay Gatsby and British actress Carey Mulligan will play his love interest Daisy Buchanan.

“Spider-Man” star Tobey Maguire will serve as the narrator, Nick Carraway, and actor Ben Affleck is reportedly in negotiations for the role of Tom Buchanan.

The film will reunite Australian director Luhrmann and DiCaprio, marking their first collaboration since “Romeo + Juliet” in 1996.

The Warner Bros. project will be filmed at Sydney’s FOX Studios and is expected to start in August, lasting 17 weeks.
