‘Mob’ hit for VH1

Sunday night’s “Mob Wives” premiere was a raging success for VH1 after it brought in 2.2 million viewers.

The number bodes well for the show, as it compares favorably with MTV’s “Jersey Shore,” which premiered with a 1.3 rating in December of 2009.

Making an offer that female viewers could not refuse, “Wives” was the most popular show for women 18-49 in its 8 p.m. time slot.

“Mob Wives” follows four women whose husbands and fathers are “connected” Mob men, including infamous Mafia turncoat Sammy “The Bull” Gravano’s daughter Karen.

Returning to Staten Island for the first time in 10 years in the premiere, Karen was confronted by the other “Wives,” who issued threats and reminded viewers of long held grudges, all of which portends a season full of fisticuffs and cat-fights.
