Fans snap up kitsch & caboodle

They’re the royal family of china.

A commoner couple (pictured) on their way to a wedding that doesn’t involve the royals took time to snap up knickknacks featuring Prince William and Kate Middleton yesterday.

The goods have taken London by siege, as streets are lined with stalls of souvenir plates, cups and key chains.

With the big day just three days away, many Britons, and royal fans across the world, are stocking up on all things Will and Kate.

Britons are apparently in denial about their lust for royal gear, with 83 percent insisting they would not purchase any memorabilia, according to a survey by marketer Invisible Hand.

The frenzy is no less intense in New York, says Jenny Myers, co-owner of ex-pat palace Myers of Keswick.

“It’s mostly the Americans buying the merchandise,” she said.

Nicky Perry, owner of Tea & Sympathy in the West Village, said she sold out of all of her royal wedding merchandise by yesterday afternoon.

She had stocked 500 mugs emblazoned with a photo of the royal couple for $15, 150 photo tea towels for $15 and a few hundred Union Jack toothpicks for $7.95 a package.

“We’ve sold out of everything Will and Kate-related,” she said. “Everybody’s buying it, mostly Americans.”
