Suspect in failed Colorado mall bombing arrested

BOULDER, Colo. — The ex-con suspected in the failed attempt to detonate a pipe bomb at a Denver-area mall last week was arrested Tuesday in Colorado, The Denver Post reported.

Earl Albert Moore — who had been the subject of a nationwide manhunt — was taken into custody by Boulder police just before 7:30am local time at a King Soopers grocery store.

Moore, 65, who served a federal prison sentence for a 2005 bank robbery, was released just days before the apparent bombing attempt on April 20.

Police evacuated Southwest Plaza Mall, in Littleton, Colo., last Wednesday after a device attached to two propane tanks caught fire. Authorities conducting a search later in the day also found what was described as a pipe bomb inside the building, near a food court.

Federal officials have not yet identified a motive for the bombing attempt.
