B’klyn juror dies of heart attack while hearing testimony

A Brooklyn grand juror died today when he suffered a heart attack while hearing testimony on a case.

The unidentified man, 49, had just been empanelled on an extended grand jury duty this week when he keeled over and passed out in the jury box on the 17th floor of Brooklyn Supreme Court around 1 p.m.

The assistant district attorney on the case leapt into action and started CPR in an attempt to revive the man — who was described as an overweight smoker.

Court officers also rushed to the juror’s aid with a defibrillator and shocked the man three times.

He died in transit to Long Island College Hospital, fire department sources said.

Court officials suspended grand jury duty for the day after the incident.

The juror, who was unemployed, was said to be “happy” to be collecting a check for his service on the case which was expected to go on for about a month.

Court officials and a spokesman for the district attorney’s office declined to comment.
