Nets taking hard look at draft prospects

The search to find the 27th and 36th picks in the NBA Draft for the Nets continues with more scheduled workouts next week. On Monday, four shooting guards, including Georgia’s Travis Leslie and Illinois’ Jermene Richmond — who both appear prominently on mock draft boards — will audition with a pair of power forwards. Tuesday’s six-man cast has three shooting guards, one point and two more power forwards. Georgia Tech’s Iman Shumpert and Kentucky’s DeAndre Liggins, two defensively stout shooting guards who project as second rounders, are among Tuesday’s crew.

Monday also has Xavier power forward Jamel McLean, the Atlantic 10’s leading offensive rebounder; Temple power forward Lavoy Allen; shooting guard LaceDarius Dunn, Baylor’s Big 12 all-time scoring leader; and Northeastern’s 6-foot-5 combo guard Chaisson Allen. They’ll join the 6-4 Leslie, a 14.4 scorer as a junior, and the 6-6 Richmond, a 7.6 freshman scorer.

There’s local talent evident Tuesday with two Villanova products: senior power forward ntonio Pena from Brooklyn, where he played at Lincoln High before transferring; and Bronx-born senior shooting guard Corey Fisher, who attended St. Patrick’s (Elizabeth, N.J.) and was New Jersey’s Player of the Year. They will compete with 6-8 Florida power forward Alex Tyus, a 9.1 scorer; 6-5 point guard Xavier Silas, who averaged 22.3 points for Northern Illinois and is the son of former NBAer James Silas; Liggins, a 6-6 junior who defends multiple positions; and Shumpert, a 6-5 junior who averaged 17.3 points and always drew the toughest defensive assignment.
