Car plunges off Bronx River Parkway

Police are reporting a wild accident on a Bronx highway.

Just after 7 a.m. today, the driver of an Accura SUV going north on the Bronx River Parkway lost control and hit a divider embankment, cops said.

The vehicle then bounced through two lanes of traffic and plunged 20 feet down over a guard rail, landing on a pickup truck in a parking lot.

The driver, a 28-year-old man, and a passenger, a 22-year-old woman, are being treated at Jacobi Hospital. Authorities say their injuries are not life-threatening.

The cause of the accident near the Bronx Zoo is under investigation.

The names of the driver and passenger were not released, since no charges have been filed.
