Cop-stabber sues for $45M

A man sentenced to 20 years in prison for stabbing a cop in the head with a knife is suing the city over a beating he says he sustained while handcuffed.

Hugo Antonio Hernandez, 27, told the Brooklyn federal jury in his $45 million suit yesterday that while he was being frisked during a stop for smoking on a subway platform in 2007, he panicked because he thought he was about “to be executed.”

Officer Angel Cruz Jr. shot Hernandez four times after being stabbed in the head. Hernandez claims other cops pummeled him after he was cuffed. The city says cops believed he had a gun and were struggling to subdue him.
