Tony’s new low

So now he’s hiding behind his preg nant wife. What a guy.

Crotch-flashing Congressman Tony Weiner yesterday blew off calls to quit from top Democrats — claiming his wife wants him to stay.

This just a day after word conveniently leaked from sources “close to Weiner” that Huma Abedin, his wife of less than a year and one of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s closest aides, is in the early stages of pregnancy.

One of his House Democratic colleagues told CNN that Weiner is “dug in” — which suggests that Weiner is not just a sleazy, lying creep, but also delusional.

“I’m trying to get back to work now,” he told The Post yesterday. “I’m going to go back to my community office and try to get some work done as best I can.”

But that’s precisely the problem — the best he can do won’t be good enough.

And that’s because he’s toxic — with his constituents, but especially with his colleagues.

Colleagues, it’s worth noting, who’ve never been crazy about him — and who were mostly silent about defending him, even before his weepy public tell-all.

“There is increased resentment by his colleagues that, far from having a press conference where he was going to tell the truth and roll with the flames, the flames are just getting worse and he’s dragging us through it,” one Democrat told CNN.

“We keep talking about Anthony Weiner,” he added. “And people are getting angrier and more resentful.”

Top Democrats reportedly have told Weiner this directly — including both Bill and Hillary Clinton, in what the Chicago Sun-Times described as “very icy and tough” conversations.

His House colleagues are urging him to resign “to preserve his own dignity.”

Only he refuses to listen.

(Then again, after what the public has seen this week of Anthony Weiner’s most private parts, how much dignity can he possibly have left?)

Weiner says he wants to “deal with the consequences” of his atrocious behavior.

But the only way to do that is to resign.
