Gov. Christie may join Allen & Co. mogulfest in Sun Valley

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie may be “100 percent certain” he won’t be joining the 2012 presidential race, but it’s a fair bet he’ll be making his first trip to the much-watched Sun Valley mogulfest.

The portly governor, who made headlines with a public-benefit busting plan to trim $132 billion over the next 30 years while insisting earlier this month he will not change his mind and seek the Republican nomination, has received his first invitation to attend this year’s Allen & Co.-hosted mogul retreat in Idaho.

Speaking of certainty, Christie’s debut at the media and tech schmooze-fest would be sure to have him rubbing elbows with some deep-pocketed GOP backers hoping to help him change his mind.

Also on the invitation list are fellow Garden State heavyweight Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a repeat visitor, and billionaire Mayor Bloomberg, who has pulled off his fair share of deals in Idaho. The event begins Tuesday, July 5.

Every summer top execs, mostly from the media and tech sectors, meet at a sun-drenched bucolic resort hosted by the New York media and entertainment investment adviser with hopes of hatching deals and future IPOs.

Topping the tech newcomers list are execs from Web phone firm Skype, which is being acquired by Microsoft, and question and answer site, Quora.

The brass from Netflix, Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, AOL and Twitter also are expected to touch down, as are a few notables who were absent last year, including Sony boss Howard Stringer, Warner Music’s Edgar Bronfman Jr. and tech billionaire Michael Dell.
