‘Twilight’ leads ‘Teen Choice 2011’ nominees

LOS ANGELES — “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” earned 12 nominations as the first wave of “Teen Choice 2011” award nominees were announced Wednesday.

The third installment of the teen vampire series will compete for an array of awards in the movie category and the film’s cast of Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were also nominated for the coveted titles of Choice Hottie and Choice Liplock.

Pop singer Justin Bieber and his new squeeze, Disney starlet Selena Gomez, were also named as contenders in their respective male/female categories for the Choice Hottie award.

Bieber will go head-to-head with new “Two and a Half Men” cast member Ashton Kutcher for the Choice Twit prize — given to the celeb most dominant on Twitter.

Musical comedy “Glee” was a top nominee among television shows with Gomez and country crooner Taylor Swift getting the most mentions in nominations for the music category.

In addition to film, TV and music, voters, aged 13 to 19, will select their top picks for the best in fashion and sports.

The ceremony, that awards winners with a Surfboard trophy, will air Aug. 7 on FOX.

FOX Broadcasting is owned by News Corp., which also owns NewsCore.
