Mayor Bloomberg is quietly purchasing a Hamptons estate that’s fit for a king!

Hizzoner discreetly signed a contract for a staggering $20 million Georgian mansion on a 35-acre spread that neighbors an exclusive golf course, The Post has learned.

The historic ivy-coated brick manor in Shinnecock Hills at 119 Whites Lane includes a 22,000-square-foot palace with black-and-white marbled floors and stately paneled libraries.

Dubbed Ballyshear when it was built in 1910, the exclusive Gold Coast property overlooks the Peconic Bay and one of the most luxurious golf courses in the nation — no surprise, since hitting the links is one of Bloomberg’s favorite pastimes.

The mansion has 11 bedrooms, eight bathrooms — along with a half-bathroom for good measure — and a pool and tennis court, according to its realty listing.

Yearly real-estate taxes are $42,110, the listing said.

All Bloomberg has left to do is close on the property, which is expected to be a routine affair, a source said.

After spending years in the spotlight, Bloomberg was likely attracted to the spread’s extreme privacy — there’s a half-mile, tree-covered approach leading up to the main house.

Famed architect F. Burrall Hoffman built the mansion in 1910 for Charles Blair Macdonald, the man who built the first 18-hole course in the nation.

“It is important architecturally and it is also a very important estate for the area,” one prominent broker said.

The estate also features horse-riding trails, stables and grazing areas — sure to please Bloomberg’s daughter Georgina, an equestrian star.

Bloomberg — who frequently summers in the Hamptons — will likely get good use out of the neighboring National Golf Links of America.

The lush course is perennially listed as one of the most exquisite in the country.

Bloomberg’s deal involved layers upon layers of confidentiality agreements, sources said.

The property went on the market about six weeks ago. Rumors soon spread that a potential buyer required a large number of bodyguards, sources said.

Bloomberg also owns an Upper East Side townhouse, his Bermuda mansion and a home in Vail, Colorado.

His spokesman declined comment last night.
