Nudists: Don’t get flesh ideas

New York’s nude sunbathers aren’t all that interested in a Coney Island “nakation.”

A legion of suit-doffing sand lovers yesterday said they’d rather stick to the area’s more remote beaches for their skinny-dipping than participate in the full Monty at the landmark Brooklyn waterfront.

“I would never go naked in Coney Island,” said Ed Poulin, 48.

Poulin was reacting to this week’s suggestion by the American Association for Nude Recreation that Coney Island would make a great nude beach.

“It doesn’t make sense to try and put one there,” said Poulin. “Coney Island is too crowded.”

Poulin — dressed in only a thong — was one of several beach lovers trying to beat the heat yesterday at Fort Tilden National Park and its Far Rockaway neighbor, Jacob Riis Park.

The two out-of-the-way beaches have become havens for topless and nude sun lovers, even though it’s not legal to go completely naked at either park.

“Nakedness goes by the feel and the energy of the beach,” said topless Riis beach babe Stephanie Martinez, 29.

Crowded Coney Island, she said, doesn’t fit her criteria.

“Coney Island is far too accessible,” said a man who had doffed his suit at Fort Tilden. “I’m not getting naked to be an exhibitionist. I’m naked to be in nature, in a natural surrounding.”

His girlfriend agreed, saying, “I only go naked when it’s like-minded people. Not when there are gawkers.”

“Coney Island would be a freak show. People would come just to look at the naked people.”
