Madman ‘shooter’ Jared Loughner posed in a G-string and gun before going on rampage: report

Accused Arizona shooter Jared Loughner took photographs of himself wearing nothing but a red G-string and holding a Glock 9 mm gun before going on a rampage that injured Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and killed six others.

The kinky photos were turned over to Tuscon cops by Walgreens staffers just days after Loughner, 22, dropped them off to be developed before Saturday’s attack, The New York Times reported today on its website.

In some photos, Loughner can be seen toting the gun near his crotch. In the others, Loughner is seen holding the gun near his naked buttocks, police said.

It remains unclear when the photos — which have not been made public and were only described by cops — were taken.

Meanwhile, authorities released more 911 calls and law enforcement radio traffic made after the rampage.

“There was a shooting at Safeway at Ina and Oracle where Gabrielle Giffords was, I do believe Gaby Giffords was hit,” a male voice says in one call, with almost animal cries and groans of pain in the background.

“At the Safeway sir? … Was somebody shot there sir?” a 911 operator says.

“It looks like a guy had a semi-automatic pistol, and he went in, he just started firing and then he ran,” said the unidentified male voice, adding that the Congresswoman was “hit.”

“She’s hit, she’s breathing, she still got a pulse … we got one dead… there’s multiple shot.”

Responder: “Oh my God.”

The odd photos and 911 calls came as mourners gathered today for the funeral of Judge John Roll, who was killed in the shooting.

“He was just a tremendous person, everyone respected him,” said Michael Massee, 48, who served as a law clerk for Roll in US District Court in Tucson from 1994 to 1996.

“In his previous career, he had been a prosecutor mostly, but even the defense attorneys I knew respected him and had no fear of appearing before him because you knew, like an umpire, he would call the strikes and balls fairly.”

Roll’s three sons were among the pallbearers, and family members and three federal judges gave readings, according to a program for the funeral. The service was to end with the song “When Irish Eyes are Smiling.”

Dignitaries including former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, Sens. John McCain and Jon Kyl, and former Vice President Dan Quayle were to attend, said Adam Goldberg, a spokesman for the fire department and the event.

Quayle brought a handwritten message from former President George H.W. Bush, who appointed Roll to the bench in 1991.

Meanwhile, Giffords (D-Ariz.) is opening her eyes more frequently and beginning to perform more complex sequences of activity, neurosurgeon Dr. Michael Lemole said today, adding “we are actually confident that she’s making some progress now.”

At the final media briefing by the medical staff at University Medical Center following last Saturday’s shooting spree that gravely wounded Giffords and killed six others, Lemole said Giffords was also continuing to follow simple medical commands.

Some of what he described as “more complex sequences of activity” came in response to doctors’ commands “or even spontaneously,” he said.
