Abrams jumps to ABC

NBC legal reporter Dan Abrams is jumping to ABC — for the chance to do more anchoring, according to network sources.

Abrams will get to anchor the weekend edition of “Good Morning America,” according to the sources, as well as appear on the weekday show as a legal expert.

The 44-year-old Manhattan lawyer will continue to own and supervise a number of media and style Web sites he launched in recent years, including Mediaite and Sportsgrid.

Abrams’ two hats could prove a conflict at some point because the sites also cover the TV networks.

“It wasn’t a problem when he worked for NBC,” says one insider. “It won’t be a problem here.”

Abrams, the son of famed First Amendment lawyer Floyd Abrams, also ran MSNBC for a little more than a year in 2006-07 before leaving to start his digital company.

The ABC deal is expected to be completed by early next month.

20/20” anchor Chris Cuomo will remain as the network’s senior legal analyst, the sources said.
