Exploding taxi gets traffic tix

His taxi blew up — and incredibly he got ticketed for blocking the road.

A cabby who found himself marooned in the relentless snow early yesterday at Second Avenue and 71st Street pulled an all-too-common maneuver: Hit the gas until you’re free.

But when the driver did that, his car caught fire and then exploded.

The fire was extinguished by the FDNY at 3:10 a.m.

At 5:20 a.m., the NYPD hit the car with a ticket and summons for impeding traffic when a tow truck didn’t arrive soon enough to move the burned-out vehicle.

“After waiting 2½ hours at the location, the officers issued a summons,” a police source said.

“These officers were taken away from their emergency duties to baby-sit this car,” the source added.

That cab fire was actually one of three yesterday morning — all on the Upper East Side.

It’s likely the other two suffered a similar fate, with drivers spinning their wheels.

No injuries were reported.
