Pension guru takes ‘double dip’

Meet the man who’s supposed to fix the city’s pension crisis — an MTA retiree who’s already pulling down a $122,130 pension.

Deputy Mayor Stephen Goldsmith has former lead labor negotiator Gary Dellaverson, 57, now at a white-shoe law firm, working on labor issues, The Post has learned.

“He has decades of expertise, and we have been using his expertise to help formulate our pension-savings proposals, which will save literally billions for the city if enacted,” said mayoral spokesman Marc LaVorgna.

The city and law firm refused to say what Dellaverson is billing the city, but since May, when the lawyer joined Proskauer Rose, the Mayor’s Office has forked over $457,000 to the law firm, city comptroller records show.

LaVorgna said the firm has been on retainer for 30 years and “we are paying Proskauer for more than Gary Dellaverson.”

Dellaverson didn’t respond to calls for comment. A spokesman for Proskauer Rose declined comment.
