What a dope! Man calls 911 about pot growing, arrested for pot growing (audio)

FARMINGTON, Conn. — A Connecticut man was arrested after he called 911 to find out how much legal trouble he could get in for growing marijuana, the Hartford Courant reported yesterday.

Robert J. Michelson of Farmington, Conn., called 911 on Thursday to ask about the legal penalties for cultivating marijuana. Dispatchers traced his address and sent narcotics officers to his home.

Michelson told the officers he had purchased equipment to grow marijuana online. The officers found one small cannabis plant, cannabis seeds and growing equipment, as well as drug paraphernalia, and arrested Michelson.

He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal cultivation of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug factory.

Michelson was brought to the Farmington police station and released on $5,000 bond. He was reportedly cooperative with officers but made an obscene gesture toward the police dispatchers.
