’Wichcraft sandwich shop: Hackers stole customer credit card info

The operators of the ’wichcraft sandwich shop — part owned by celebrity chef Tom Colicchio — have admitted that nearly two months’ worth of customer data has been stolen by hackers.

Anyone who ate at the chain’s locations in New York and San Francisco between Aug. 11 and Oct. 2 may have had their names, card numbers, security codes and expiration dates scooped up by ID thieves, according to the company.

“If you used a payment card at one of the relevant locations during this time period, your information may have been affected,” a press release posted on the company’s Web site said.

The data was compromised by an “unauthorized party,” according to a letter to customers from ’wichcraft co-founder Jeffrey Zurofsky.

“After learning of this incident, we quickly took steps to secure the system,” he said.

The notice on the company site said execs waited until the end of “a forensic investigation” to announce the breach and that the probe ended Monday — but didn’t say if investigators determined the cause of the theft.

News of the ’wichcraft hack comes just weeks after Target stores announced that information for 40 million shoppers was stolen.

Officials at ’wichcraft did not say how many customers were affected.

“We are very sorry that this happened,” Zurofsky said.
