Cops uncover huge weapons cache after raid in the Bronx

Cops recovered an arsenal of powerful weapons — enough firepower to outfit a small militia — when they raided an apartment in the Bronx.

Acting on a tip, cops from the NYPD’s Manhattan Gang Unit raided what they believed to be a cocaine distribution center inside a second-floor apartment on Villa Avenue, in Bianbridge yesterday.

Inside, investigators found a suitcase in the bedroom packed with nearly a dozen guns, including five assault rifles and several handguns and ammunition for various types of weapons, said police.

One gun was found under a mattress and another was stashed in a kitchen cabinet, said sources.

Cops also found night-vision goggles, a bulletproof vest and M-80 explosives with blasting caps and fuses.

Also found was a small amount of cocaine and marijuana, scales and other drug paraphernalia, as well as a money counter, cops said.

Victor Miri, 29, the tenant of the apartment, was arrested, along with his older brother Tonin Miri, 30, cops said.

Both Miri bothers were charged with weapons and drug possession.

Police were still working to determine the origin of the weapons and how they were planned to be used, said sources.

The case is being prosecuted by the office of NYC Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan.
