LOS ANGELES — The Academy Awards will continue to be broadcast on ABC through 2020, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed Thursday.
The new deal is a six-year extension, taking the Oscars through its 92nd annual ceremony. That will mark 45 consecutive years on ABC.
The broadcast is one of the highest-rated events on television, typically trailing only the Super Bowl.
“The Oscars remain the most-watched non-sports program in America, and we’re delighted that ABC will continue to be the setting for that jewel,” Academy Executive Director Bruce Davis said in a statement.
James Franco and Anne Hathaway will co-host the 83rd annual Academy Awards this Sunday.
