A Good Man

Chris Rohrlach is a sheep farmer in Australia with a quadriplegic wife (the result of a stroke at age 21) and two sons, a teenager and an infant.

When a drought makes it hard for him to make ends meet, he does what anybody in the same predicament would: He opens a brothel, promising “a nice clean establishment with well-mannered sex workers.”

The documentary “A Good Man,” directed by Safina Uberoi, details Chris’ adventures in the sex industry.

Prostitution is legal in that part of Australia, but Chris faces massive local opposition. He persists, building the cathouse with the help of friends.

But Chris is too nice a guy for the sex trade, and his business eventually goes bust (no pun intended).

The film avoids exploitation as it paints a picture of a loving husband and father just trying to do what he thinks is best for his family.

It’s an interesting story, but the presentation is more like a home movie than something you’d pay to see in a theater. Wait for it to pop up on cable TV.
