Fla. docs put NY cop into coma

The NYPD detective shot while on vacation in Miami is reportedly fighting for his life after being placed in a medically induced coma.

Detective Harold Thomas, 48, was hit in the thigh and has already undergone two surgeries after the shooting in a hotel hallway Saturday morning, the Miami Herald reported.

The father of two lost a large amount of blood and doctors were having difficulty controlling the bleeding, the paper said.

Thomas, a 27-year NYPD veteran who is a member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, fired back at his assailant during an apparent robbery attempt.

It doesn’t appear Thomas was targeted because of his job.

Cops are still searching for the shooter.

Thomas has been visited at the hospital by relatives and members of the NYPD.
