Rangers’ Avery busted in LA cop fight

Big-mouth Rangers forward Sean Avery was arrested yesterday for shoving a police officer, calling cops “fat little pigs” and challenging them to a brawl as they shut down a loud party at the hunky hockey player’s California home.

The anger-prone Avery’s antics — which reportedly included slamming a door in cops’ faces when they arrived — have landed him in hot water with the Rangers, who plan to speak with the winger about this latest wig-out.

“I’m all right, I’m good,” a relaxed, smiling Avery, 31, told The Post at his Spanish bungalow in the West Hollywood hills after posting $20,000 bond on the battery charge.

“It’ll all work out at some point,” predicted Avery, whose on- and off-ice antagonism toward opponents and coaches have made him one of the NHL’s most-hated players during his career.

Thursday night, Avery was hosting a party for about 10 guests at his home, neighbors said.

Although there was “some loud talking” and “music,” several neighbors said they were not bothered by the noise.

But one neighbor was bothered — and called police.

Cops showed up on Avery’s street around 10 p.m., but then left when his immediate neighbor said there wasn’t a problem. Officers returned at 1 a.m. yesterday and this time knocked on Avery’s door.

Avery answered the door and pushed one cop before slamming the door, police said.

Avery also called the cops “fat little pigs” as he challenged them to a fight, according to TMZ.com.

When police threatened to knock down the door, Avery opened it and began cooperating, the website said. He then was taken into custody.

Avery is due to appear in Los Angeles court Sept. 2. He faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted.

“We will discuss this matter with Sean, and have no further comment at this time,” Rangers spokesman John Roscasco said.

The arrest is just the latest in a string of stunts by Avery — whose obnoxious on-ice persona starkly contrasts with his metrosexual fashion sense, work as a Vogue magazine intern and recent advocacy for gay marriage.

In late 2008, while playing for the Dallas Stars, Avery was suspended for six games and forced to undergo anger management evaluation after saying another player was enjoying his “sloppy seconds” by dating his ex-girlfriend.
