‘Gilmore Girls’ creator Sherman-Palladino adapting ‘Nanny Diaries’ for TV

LOS ANGELES — “Gilmore Girls” creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is working on a TV adaptation of “The Nanny Diaries,” TV Guide reported Tuesday.

Sherman-Palladino is close to selling a script for the book-inspired show to ABC Studios.

The novel, penned by authors Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus about nannies who work for wealthy families on Manhattan’s posh Upper East Side, became a New York Times bestseller when it was released in 2002.

Actress Scarlett Johansson starred in the film adaption of the book in 2007. Though the movie grossed a meager $25 million at US box offices, producers are hopeful a longer-running TV series could prove more successful.

Sherman-Palladino is best known for producing the highly popular drama about the beloved mother-daughter Gilmore duo that ran from 2000 to 2007.

She left the show in 2006 over a contract dispute and went on to create the short-lived sitcom “The Return of Jezebel James.”
