Fire disrupts Coney trains

Beach-goers beware: subway service will be spotty in Coney Island today.

A fire broke out on the roof of a signal room near the West 8th Street station yesterday, shutting down service on the F and Q.

An MTA spokeswoman said the fire was out by 9 p.m., but it was too late for workers to get up on the elevated tracks. Workers were set to start repairs at daybreak, but it’s unclear when service would be restored.

The F wasn’t going past Avenue X and the Q terminated at Brighton Beach. Shuttle buses were running. The N and D were not affected.
