Hearing gets a big ‘frack you’

Environmentalists dominated a Westchester public hearing yesterday on the controversial process of hydrofracking to tap upstate natural-gas supplies, as representatives of the energy industry refused to show up, claiming the deck was stacked against them.

“Where the hell were they?” asked the hearing sponsor, state Sen. Greg Ball (R-Putnam), who cited concerns about drinking water, property values and livestock in Pennsylvania hydrofracking areas.
