Move over, Mark: Geno has own version of buttfumble

There’s always a butt with the Jets.

It lacked the outright comedy of Mark Sanchez’s buttfumble, but Geno Smith came up with an entertaining 2013 episode of “Embarrassing QB Turnovers” in the Jets’ 38-13 loss to the Titans.

In the fourth quarter, Smith was backpedaling and under pressure when he foolishly tried to transfer the football behind his back from his right to left hand — against his backside. Titans defensive lineman Karl Klug hit Smith’s arm and the ball came loose. Klug fell on it in the end zone to give the Titans a 31-6 lead and seal the Jets’ fate.

It was one of four turnovers for Smith, who turned the worst performance of his young career as the Jets fell to 2-2.

Sanchez, who is out with a shoulder injury, suffered an all-time indignity last season when he rushed directly into lineman Brandon Moore’s backside and fumbled, with the ball getting scooped up and returned for a touchdown in a 49-19 shellacking by the Patriots on Thanksgiving night.

Now, the Jets have a lowlight to headline their season highlights if 2013 turns sour.
