Inside deluxe detox

When the party’s over in the Hamptons, there’s a place for the rich and famous — and addicted — to go.

A posh rehabilitation spa recently opened on a hidden, elegant estate in East Hampton, offering therapy and privacy for the well-heeled and hooked — for a hefty price, of course.

The facility, called The Dunes, is housed in an eight-bedroom, nine-bath mansion on four acres.

For more than $100,000 for three months, it offers the latest in therapy: interactive Skype group sessions between a Harvard Medical School addiction-treatment psychologist and the pampered patients.

The site also has a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, tennis court, high-end accommodations and gourmet food.

The Dunes founder and CEO, Joe McKinsey, told The Post that the ritzy rehab joint can handle up to 16 clients at a time. Currently, there are about a dozen patients, all of whom want to get their lives back on track while enjoying the best of the Hamptons lifestyle.

McKinsey, a former alcoholic who has been sober for nearly 30 years, said the treatment at The Dunes is customized to each patient and offers traditional and alternative therapies, including spiritual approaches.

That means whatever works for the client — Tibetan meditation, acupuncture or a tried-and-true 12-step program — is what they get, he said.

“The Dunes is a beautiful property. It’s comfortable. We’re looking for a bridge back to the life they destroyed with drugs and alcohol,’’ McKinsey said.

“I’ve seen some amazing results. It’s very rewarding to see a person’s life that has been screwed up … turned around.’’

The Post took a tour of the facility — when the patients were out — on the condition that its exact location not be revealed.

The Dunes has been in operation for about eight months. McKinsey declined to say if it has treated anyone famous

“We have very successful people at the Dunes, that’s about all I can say,’’ he said.

“When I see somebody like Lindsay Lohan or Mel Gibson or Charlie Sheen — these are my kind of candidates.”

McKinsey claimed The Dunes has been successful with 80 percent of its patients, although he cautioned that because the facility been open less than a year, there’s still the possibility of relapse, so the numbers could change.

He recommends a 90-day program at $105,000, but noted that because “not many captains of industry can stay that long,’’ patients often stay for a month at $45,000, then follow up with outpatient therapy and programs.

McKinsey said the facility also offers “scholarships’’ for the needy as a service to the community.

“I’m a very grateful guy, with a lot to pay back,’’ he said.
