Cabbies’ moral high road

The Issue: Permission granted to Muslim cabdrivers to replace racy roof ads with family-friendly ones.

It’s nice to find something that diverse religious groups can agree on (“Keep Your Pants On!” Sept. 17).

The city’s Muslim cabbies demonstrated self-respect and respect for the public, and they sanctified God’s name in successfully and responsibly protesting offensive ads.

In addition to Muslims and other religious taxi drivers, feminists who once so fiercely opposed women being portrayed as sex objects should object to strip-club ads on top of cabs.

Feminists once scrawled “Off Our Backs!” on bus shelters displaying revealing Calvin Klein lingerie ads.

Generations of women and young girls have been seduced by the fashion and entertainment industries, which understand that sex sells.

Let’s hope and pray that all cabdrivers eschew these R-rated ads. Indeed, let’s hope, pray and work for a G-rated society in general.

Kudos to devout Muslim cabdrivers who won a victory over medallion owners.

I wonder what would happen if devout Catholic cabdrivers protest carrying ads for abortion services?

Call me a cynic, but I think the Taxi and Limousine Commission would make a different ruling.

Once again, Muslims show zero tolerance for others.

I agree that strip-club ads don’t belong on top of cabs because they expose young children to the issue.

But this is America. If we continue to cave in to their demands, it won’t be long before political correctness will have this country living under sharia law.
