Deadly Atlantic City carjack

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — One man was shot to death and a woman was wounded during an apparent carjacking that authorities believe began inside the parking garage of an Atlantic City casino early today

Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel says three “people of interest” were being sought in the incident, which occurred around 8 a.m. in the area of the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort.

Twenty-eight-year-old Sunil Rattu of Old Bridge was killed, while 24-year-old Raha Ghetia of Parlin was being treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said the victims were held up as they left the casino, and then forced to drive to a nearby alley where Rattu was shot dead, the Press of Atlantic City reported.

The assailants apparently fled the scene on foot after the shooting occurred, leaving behind the victims’ sport utility vehicle.

Ghetia is expected to live, Housel told the paper.

“She suffered a clean, through-and-through shot to the upper part of her body. We’re fairly confident she will survive,” Housel said.
