CHSAA/Private boys basketball roundup: Frankel reaches 1,000 points as Collegiate tops Riverdale

Ryan Frankel scored 14 points to reach 1,000 for his career as visiting Collegiate topped Riverdale, 56-40, in Ivy Prep League boys basketball on Wednesday.

Connor Huff led the Dutchmen, who lead Poly Prep and Fieldston by a game atop the league, with 20 points. Collegiate (17-2, 10-1) hosts Hackley Friday at 7 p.m. while Riverdale (9-8, 5-5) takes on Fieldston Friday at 4:15 p.m.

Fieldston 50, Trinity 32: Mike Bregman had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Will Savage added eight points and five assists for Fieldston (16-3, 10-2), which visits Riverdale Friday at 4:15 p.m. Trinity (3-11, 1-10) takes on Horace Mann Friday at 4 p.m.

Poly Prep 55, Horace Mann 50: Anthony Reyes scored 18 points for Poly Prep, which bounced back from Monday’s loss to Collegiate and remains tied with Fieldston for second place. The Blue Devils (12-7, 8-2) face Dalton Friday at 6:15 p.m. Tommy Schnepp scored 17 points for Horace Mann (7-10, 3-7), which hosts Trinity Friday at 4 p.m.

CHSAA CLASS AA

Christ the King 75, St. Francis Prep 54: Omar Calhoun had 36 points and 10 rebounds to lead Christ the King (16-6, 9-1 ‘AA’) on Tuesday. Jordan Fuchs had eight points and five blocks and Malik Harmon had six assists and three steals. St. Francis is 7-14, 1-9.

CHSAA CLASS A

Iona Prep 51, Regis 34: Luke Wooters had 13 points, Tim McCarthy had 12 points and Kevin Conroy finished with 11 points for Iona (19-3, 12-1 ‘A’). Sam Hauser had nine points and Chris Elser notched eight for Regis (11-9, 6-4).

Bishop Ford 56, St. John’s Prep 37: Anthony Butler had 17 points and Josh Blagrove had 12 points to lead Ford (9-12, 6-4 ‘A’). Marlon Alcindor had nine points for St. John’s Prep (2-16, 0-7).

NON-LEAGUE

Long Island Lutheran 65, Archbishop Stepinac 50: Davino McRae had 15 points and Tyler Iacuone had 13 points for Stepinac (9-12). Kentan Facey and K.J. Lee each scored 13 points and Taiquan Garner and Anthony Pate each had 10 for LuHi (16-4).

Calhoun 55, York Prep 40: Zuri Pavlin had 19 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists, eight steals and six blocks and Matt Tabatsky added 19 points and three 3-pointers for Calhoun (11-9), which has won four straight and faces Staten Island Academy Friday at 4:15 p.m. Ellie Mamiye had 25 points for York Prep (10-5).

Staten Island Academy 50, Bay Ridge Prep 49: James Morisano scored 18 points for Staten Island Academy (13-6), which meets Calhoun Friday at 4:15 p.m.
