When it comes to Super Bowl, Jacobs says Giants ‘could do this again’

Only hours after capturing their second Super Bowl in four years, Brandon Jacobs said he wants to remain with the Giants — and sent a message to the rest of the NFL: We’re not done yet!

“This football team could do this again,” Jacobs said at the team hotel this morning before the flight home. “We stick together and fight like we’ve been fighting, there’s no reason why we can’t do this again.”

Jacobs has one year remaining on his contract, as does coach Tom Coughlin.

“I certainly hope [to be back next year], my intentions are to be back,” said the 65-year-old, whose job seemed in jeopardy before the team’s late-season run. “I do have some ownership that has to give approval, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Monday morning, Coughlin and Eli Manning talked about the team’s 21-17 comeback win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI being a result of metal toughness and resiliency.

The Giants coach used the words proud and excited when talking about his team’s win, and Manning called it “a good night.”
