Jacobs says he’ll do ‘whatever is fair’ to stay with Giants

Brandon Jacobs reaffirmed Monday he wants to remain with the Giants for the foreseeable future.

Jacobs, who is entering the final season of his contract, said there have not been any talks about his future with the Giants, who could let him go to save salary and a roster bonus payment.

“Nothing has been discussed yet. However, it is coming,” Jacobs told The Post. “I want to keep my family [in New York]. I love my teammates and my coaches. It’s a great organization.”

Jacobs restructured his contract before last season in order for running back Ahmad Bradshaw to reach a new deal with the team, and it is expected Jacobs will need to accept another pay cut in order to stay with the Giants. Jacobs has one year left on his deal worth $4.4 million and has a $500,000 bonus coming his way if he is on the roster next month.

“Whatever is going to happen will happen,” Jacobs said. “I will say that I will do whatever is fair for me. I have put a lot of hard work and dedication into this team.”

Last season, Jacobs ran the ball 152 times for 571 yards and seven TDs in 14 games, his lowest output since rushing for 423 yards in 2006. Jacobs added 164 yards on 37 carries in four postseason contests, ending with a 21-17 victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

Jacobs called it “a great game,” but said the Giants could have done more.

“We could have run the ball better, there were some foolish penalties that stopped us from scoring TDs and prevented drives from moving,” Jacobs said. “There were little mistakes that only [we] would really see. We could have put up 35-40 points.”

Jacobs, who is known for punishing defenders with his hard running style, made his comments before an appearance on Total Nonstop Action wrestling, where he will step into the ring against Kurt Angle in a match that will air Thursday night.
