Vlad’s new vodka is creme de la Krem

MOSCOW — Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Kremlin colleagues now have their very own brand of vodka.

The exclusive new spirit, entitled “Kremlin Award,” was unveiled Tuesday and boasts only the finest grains and ingredients, a government spokesman told Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency.

The vodka will be served at official events involving President Dmitry Medvedev and his predecessor and likely successor, Putin. It was also being offered for sale over the internet at 792 rubles ($26) for a bottle, the report said.

But while it may have gone down well with late Russian leader and notorious vodka-lover Boris Yeltsin, it remains to be seen whether Putin himself will partake.

The former KGB strongman has mainly stuck to beer and champagne at previous public events, RIA Novosti noted.
